Dane Cleenwerck joined Alberta Central Air Ambulance in 2025 and brings more than 20 years of experience in emergency medical services, critical care transport, and education.

Originally from South Africa, Dane has worked in a variety of prehospital, critical care, and retrieval environments across Africa, the Middle East, Asia, and Canada. His career has included ground ambulance, helicopter and fixed-wing air ambulance operations, remote site medicine, and emergency response in challenging and austere environments.

Dane is passionate about lifelong learning and enjoys furthering his knowledge and sharing with others. In addition to his flight paramedic role, he serves as a post-secondary paramedic educator, helping to prepare the next generation of healthcare professionals for careers in emergency medicine.

What Dane enjoys most about retrieval medicine is the unique combination of critical care, aviation, teamwork, and problem-solving required to care for patients when they need it most. He values being part of a dedicated team that makes a difference in communities across Alberta.

When not flying, Dane enjoys spending time with his wife and daughters, supporting their many activities, working with horses, cheering from the sidelines of basketball games, and spending time with the dogs. He also enjoys travelling, reading, and exploring the outdoors. He feels privileged to be part of the Alberta Central Air Ambulance family and proud to serve the people of Alberta.
